Zoom and Phone to the rescue for Faith Groups

Leaders of and representatives from seven major Faiths met online to discuss the effects of Covid-19  on their various congregations and communities.  Small break-out rooms gave each person the opportunity to share experiences and strategies adopted since the outbreak of the pandemic. These have ensured continued social and spiritual support to their members, in line with Government safety measures.

A positive outcome has been the adoption of online Zoom technology which has allowed many more people to access communal services and meetings, directly from their own homes.   Many Faith Communities have also adopted the use of telephone calls to contact those who are unable to access the internet.

Collective and communal worship, devotionals and face to face discussions, so important to the comfort and wellbeing of the communities, especially individuals suffering bereavement, are drastically limited at present, but the fundamental elements of community life and social interaction have been restored as far as possible through the use of legacy and this innovative technology.

In summary, it was a very worthwhile event.
